FANFARLO ON THE RADIO BOX (BY THE SKIN OF THEIR TEETH).

on Feb 11, 2012

So today we were scheduled to go play Shiny Things in all it’s glory on a BBC Radio 4 panel show hosted by Clive Anderson and guesting that Murray guy from Flight Of The Conchords. We realised about an hour before we had to be there that all of our equipment was locked up in storage and wouldn’t be open until after the show. There ensued a frantic hour of phone calls and text messages trying to cobble together enough instruments to play a song of some sort.

ENGINEER OF THE YEAR GOES TO…DAVID WRENCH!

on Feb 10, 2012

I just stumbled across this picture of Fanfarlo friend and the engineer on our new album Rooms Filled With Light. Presenting Sir David Wrench. He has won the BBC Welsh producer of the year 4 TIMES!!! If you wanted your drums to sound like a machine gun, David knew how to set up the microphones. If you wanted your guitar to sound like a flock of Welsh sheep being run over by a combine harvester, David knew what combination of amplifiers to use.

David has contributed and created many projects in the past 20 years including The Black Sheep project with Julian Cope and his own ‘Camp Synth Pop’

Vostok, I Know You Are Waiting

on Feb 08, 2012

I've been reading about Lake Vostok, which lies underneath the surface of Antarctica and is believed to be a million years old. The idea of a lake hidden beneath four kilometres of ice is just mind blowing. I would love to write a song about that." So said Simon in an interview published almost two years to the day. The idea germinated into "Vostok, I Know You Are Waiting" which was performed just the once, aptly, in Iceland two summers ago, and recorded in Wales in spring of last year. It's hard to fathom a pristine, freshwater lake, that has lain undisturbed for 15 million years.
